Cotton is not just cotton. Because those that are certified organic are grown in fields without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and defoliants . Only natural and organic fertilizers such as compost and animal manure are used. Unfortunately, organic cotton still accounts for only a fraction of total cotton production. We want to change that.

There are various certifications for organically grown cotton. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) represents the most comprehensive certification. The seal is the world's leading standard for the production and processing of textiles made from organically produced natural fibers. The certification defines holistic requirements along the entire production and value chain. That's why we decided to get this certificate.

Globally, most organic cotton is grown on farms that work with rainwater , so there is no freshwater irrigation. The soil is healthy due to the observed crop rotation, contains more organic matter and retains water 50% better than conventionally cultivated soil. The water consumption when growing organic cotton is up to 91% lower than with conventional cotton. The cultivation of organic cotton also saves up to 46% of CO₂ compared to conventional cotton.

Chemical-synthetic fertilizers and pesticides are prohibited in organic farming. Even if the corresponding chemicals are not used in the further processing steps, such as bleaching or dyeing, clothing made from organic cotton does not contain any toxins and has a positive effect on the cotton farmers, their families and your skin. The certification by the GOTS is therefore highly relevant.

We produce all textiles exclusively in Europe. Because transparency and education are the most important cornerstones for more sustainability in the textile industry. It is therefore important to us that our customers understand and know how their clothes are made. We regularly visit our producers in Portugal and have a very friendly relationship with them. Our collections are created in the small town of Barcelos in northern Portugal. Short distances, wonderful people, fair working conditions and only a few minutes to the beach.

After our organic cotton , grown in India and Turkey, is spun into yarns, it is processed into high-quality fabrics . Yarn becomes fabric.

It doesn't work without colour. But it is also true that dyeing fabric is very laborious and involves a lot of water consumption . Our dye works tries to counteract this situation and allows the water to circulate by collecting it in a large water tank and returning it to the cycle after treatment. In addition , no harmful chemicals are used in the dyeing of our fabrics.

Our sewing workshop is only a few kilometers away from the dye works. The ready-dyed rolls of fabric are cut into the individual parts here and then sewn by hand in many small work steps into the finished garments.
